Rose-Air Pony Stud was formed in 1967 assisted by my father, Tom and my brother also named Tom. The first foal was Rose-Air Little Darcy born in 1969. He was very successful in South East Queensland during his show career. At our stud’s first showing at Brisbane Royal, he was awarded 1st in class and Reserve Champion Stallion. We have shown at every Brisbane Exhibition since 1975 with great success. We mostly showed in led classes then ventured to harness events. My brother Tom is the driving force behind the harness showing. Bernie & I, have now been joined by our 4 children and Tom has been joined by his son Michael who helps with the harness horses.
We purchased our first Marisposa mare from Mrs A H Williams, Nebo (Mariposa Freshly Painted who was a great mare for our stud) After this we had a continuous stream of Mariposa ponies arriving at our Stud. Another breeder, Mrs Sue Grey of Sanctuary Cove sent ponies which were shown successfully by us. We are now producing ponies that are being shown successfully in the pony hack ring by Jo Uppington, Sue & Ryane Mciver (ridden by Maddison Sears & Kirsty Harper-Purcell).
